Samsara's ELD solution supports Option 1 (Telematics Transfer methods) of 4.9.1 of Appendix A to Subpart B of 49 CFR 395. Using the Samsara Driver app, drivers can initiate a data transfer using wireless webservices or using email. Drivers can initiate a data transfer via the "one-touch" DOT Inspection button on the HOS main page. This will allow for an Officer to review logs via the the mobile display , or transfer logs via webservices or email as desired.Certification Statement
Power Compliance (M) The Vehicle Gateway recorded over 30 minutes of driving time without power in the last 24 hours. Engine Synchronization (M) The Vehicle Gateway recorded over 30 minutes of driving time without receiving engine data in the last 24 hours. Timing (M) The Vehicle Gateway is out of sync with the global UTC clock by at least 10 minutes. Positioning (M) The Vehicle Gateway recorded over 60 minutes of driving time without receiving a location in the last 24 hours. Data recording (M) ELD storage is full (mobile app or Vehicle Gateway). Data Transfer (M) Data transfer (email) failure has occurred at least 3 times in the past 72 hours. This is outlined in the User Manual.

Samsara's ELD system self-monitors for all appropriate malfunctions as specified in Appendix A section 4.6. Also as required in section 4.6, when a malfunction is detected, it is reported as required in ELD data file(s) and visually indicated on the ELD system as required by 4.6.2.1.
