PER FMCSA RULES, THIS GUIDE MUST BE KEPT IN THE VEHICLE AT ALL TIMES MASTER ELD DRIVER MANUAL MASTERELD.COM 630-422-7497 SECTION 1 MASTERELD SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS 1. 4G LTE mobile device with data-roaming. 2. Bluetooth 4.0 and internal GPS. 3. Android 9 or newer operating system. 4. A Google account signed into the mobile. SECTION 2 INSTALLING MASTER ELD APP 1. Download the MasterELD Driver App from the Google Play Store (for Android) or the App Store (for iPads). 2. Open the MasterELD application. Enter your Username and Password. Tap "CONFIRM". 3. To function, the MasterELD app requires permission to use your devices Location and Storage. Select "ALLOW', or "ALWAYS ALLOW", when prompted. 630-422-7497 [email protected] SECTION 3 INSTALLING DEVICE 1. Make sure your vehicle engine is turned off. Check the ignition key is set to OFF position. 2. Find the diagnostic port inside of your vehicle. 3. Insert ELD device and turn clock-wise to lock device. 4. Turn on Power. ELD device will begin synchronizing with your vehicles engine computer. The ELD device has small lights, to indicate its status. Blinking Green and Blue ELD Device is connected and receiving data from the vehicles computer. No Light ELD Device is not connected or not receiving power. 630-422-7497 [email protected] SECTION 4 ALL DUTY STATUS 1. On the main ELD home screen, you will have all your duty status: OFF DUTY, SLEEPER, ON DUTY, OF DUTY(PC), ON DUTY(YM) 2. Select one of the status. Your location will automatically generate. 3. To indicate, tap on the long line next to REMARKS, such as PTI or COFFEE BREAK. 4.Press SAVE and then press OK. SECTION 5 INFO 1. The INFO section provides logbook details that are not included within the HOS graph. Any changes can be saved by scrolling to the bottom of the screen and clicking the large orange "Save" button. This information may include: Drivers Name CMV Number Load Number Daily Mileage Drivers ID Number Trailer Number Trip Information Carrier Name and Address. 630-422-7497 [email protected] SECTION 6 RECORDING MOVEMENT 1. Per FMCSA, the ELD device will begin automatically recording movement at a vehicle speed of 5 MPH or more. Depending on driver input, this movement can be categorized as one of three options: DRIVING, ON-DUTY YARD MOVE, OFF-DUTY PERSONAL CONVEYANCE. 2. ON-DUTY YARD MOVE MOVEMENT : Select "On-Duty" to designate the movement as part of your shift. Check the box for "Yard Move" within the On-Duty menu before initiating driving. This movement will be recorded and counted towards your "ON-DUTY" shift clock. 3. OFF-DUTY PERSONAL CONVEYANCE MOVEMENT Select "Off-Duty" to designate the movement as personal and not related to business activities. Additionally, check the box for "Personal Conveyance" within the Off-Duty menu before initiating movement. Please note, per FMCSA regulations, a reason for the personal conveyance must be provided. MasterELD is not liable for Personal Conveyance (PC) movements that do not comply with FMCSA regulations. If you have any questions regarding PC movement, please reach out to your carrier for clarification. 630-422-7497 [email protected] SECTION 7 DVIR (Post-Trip Inspection) 1. Post-trip inspections are mandatory at the end of each workday. To initiate, go to the "DVIR" section and click the orange "+" button. The driver may then select from two options: The driver did not identify any issues with the vehicle combination during the inspection. The driver identified a fault with the vehicle combination during the inspection and may provide additional details regarding the issue SECTION 8 CERTIFY A LOG 1. Certifying your logs at the end of each workday is essential, as it confirms the accuracy and authenticity of your recorded activities. Select the "Signature" category. Either draw your signature or apply a pre-saved signature. Click the "Submit" button. 630-422-7497 [email protected] SECTION 9 ELD MALFUNCTION If the Vehicle Gateway is not functioning properly, you are experiencing an ELD Malfunction and need to follow the procedures found in 395.34, paraphrased below. What does the driver need to do in case of a malfunction? 1. For any troubleshoot or issue contact MasterELD Technical Support immediately at 630-422-7497 or email [email protected] 2. Provide written notice to your fleet management within 24 hours of malfunction discovery. 3. Temporarily switch to manual paper logs until the ELD is repaired. What does the fleet need to do if the ELD is malfunctioning? 1. A motor carrier must take action to correct the malfunction of the ELD within 8 days of discovery of the malfunction on a drivers notification to the motor carrier, whichever occurs first. 2. Upon notification by fleet manager, MasterELD will prepare a new device for the carrier. 3. If a motor carrier needs a time extension beyond 8 days, MasterELD is not authorized to provide this extension. The motor carrier must contact the FMCSA Division Administration for the state of the motor carriers place of principal business within 5 days after a driver has notified the carrier, according to guidelines set forth in 395.34(2) Section 395.22 Motor Carrier Responsibilities A motor carrier must ensure that its drivers possess onboard a commercial motor vehicle and ELD information packet containing the following items: An instruction sheet for the driver describing ELD malfunction reporting requirements and recordkeeping procedures during ELD malfunctions. 630-422-7497 [email protected] SECTION 9 ELD MALFUNCTION MasterELD Self-Monitoring MasterELD will monitor and report malfunction data based on section 4.6 ELDs Self-Monitoring of Required Functions Table 4: P Power Compliance malfunction. E Engine Synchronization Compliance malfunction. T Timing Compliance malfunction. L Positioning Compliance malfunction. R Data Recording Compliance malfunction. S Data Transfer Compliance malfunction. O Other ELD detected malfunction. How can a driver know if the Master ELD is malfunctioning? The MasterELD ELD device has visual LED lights to indicate its status. No Light The ELD is not plugged in or not receiving power. Blinking Green and Blue The ELD is connected. Any color except Blue and Green The ELD is not connected to the vehicle ECM. 630-422-7497 [email protected] DOT REFERENCE CARD KEEP THIS CARD IN VEHICLE AT ALL TIME MASTERELD The MASTER ELD device plugs into the diagnostic port in a vehicle and is integrally synchronized with the engine. The ELD automatically records driving time and connects the MASTER ELD APP on a mobile device via BLUETOOTH. FOR OFFICER LOG INSPECTIONS Tab the menu icon INSPECTION MODULE and select Tab BEDIN INSPECTION to let an officer view your logs directly from your device Tab SEND LOGS to email a copy of your logs to an officer Tab SEND OUTPUT FILE to submit your ELD output file to the DOT via web services DEVICE MALFUNCTION IOSIX DEVICE DOES NOT HAVE LIGHT Turn the engine off and reconnect the plug TABLET SHOWS SCANNING Call customer support 630-422-7497 IF YOUR TABLET SCREEN DOES NOT LOCK WHILE DRIVING Failing to stop the vehicle and assure proper functioning of the ELD device and APP will constitute as a DOT violation.
