The Safe ELD is designed to make your job easier. This
manual might be used by drivers, mechanics, fleet
managers, dispatchers, or anyone accessing the Safe
ELD.
The Safe ELD is installed in the cab of the truck. It
measures the distance you travel, and captures
location [via a global positional system (GPS)], route,
and operational data from the truck.

Please ensure you have installed a Vehicle Gateway inside your vehicle
before continuing. Refer to the Vehicle Gateway Manual for more details.

When your vehicle is moving 5 mph or more, Safe ELD considers the vehicle
to be IN MOTION and will automatically update your current duty status to
DRIVING.

When your vehicle is moving at 0
mph, the vehicle is considered
STATIONARY.

five minutes, a message will appear
to ask if you would like to change
your current duty status or remain
in your current duty status. You
have one minute to make a
selection, otherwise your current
duty status will automatically
change from STATIONARY to ON

There are four standard duty status options on the Safe ELD. Your carrier
might allow you to use the two optional statuses. Each status is color-coded.

OFF DUTY
Off duty, you are not working.
ON DUTY
On duty, but you are not driving.

Perform the following
steps to add a trailer

The Safe ELD lets you quickly verify that your logs are accurate and
complete. Perform the following steps to review your logs.
